We have been manufacturing Aquarium Remedies Since 1964.

Hong Tai Trading was formed in 1963, manufacturing "RID-ALL" medications for fish diseases. In 1994, Hong Tai Trading was changed to Hong Tai Aquarium Products Pte Ltd to reflect the company's main field of operations -- that is, specialist manufacturer of Aquarium Fish Pharmaceuticals.

Throughout the years, we maintained a very high standard of quality and packaging. We have been producing "RID-ALL" Aquarium Pharmaceuticals for the past 35 years!

It all started with just a single product, "RID-ALL" General Aid. Imported products were much too expensive for the common people. With constant market survey, evaluation and monitoring of the fish diseases, as well as feedback from end users, two new products were added into our product range -- Anti-Chlorine and Anti-Ich. As with our General Aid, they were both very quickly accepted by the local people. With the success of these new products, more were later included into production. To date, there are altogether a total of 10 different products for the hobbyists. We also produce special treatment products which we manufacturer for fish farms, fish breeders, etc, for their specific requirements.

The formulation of our products were compounded after extensive research by our very own Pharmacy Technician, who has more than 35 years of working experience with the Singapore Government Pharmaceutical Laboratories and Stores -- 15 years experiences especially in the manufacturing of Pharmaceutical Preparations of Tablets, Mixtures and Lotions. With a personal interest in fish keeping and a hobbyist, he has bred prize-winning guppies and discus since 1950. Intensive tests and experiments were conducted and evaluated in major fishery farms in Singapore before the release of our products for the hobbyists and fish farming markets. All tests are conducted in actual conditions -- just as hobbyists or fish farmers may encounter them. Treatment and cure is done in the same environment. Hence, undesirable instability in the chemical compounds can be addressed and arrested even before the production stage. Our own research staff will already have experienced the same problems faced by the end-user.

"RID-ALL" products are compounded by several chemicals.  Thus, it is highly unlikely that fish bacterial wil ever become immune to our products.  We DO NOT use any ANTIBIOTICS in our products.

All the raw materials used for the formulation of our products have passed the USP and BP Standards.

Our main objective has always been to ensure that the hobbyists get the best possible, and most economical, medication for the treatment of the fishes.  This would also prolong the life span of fishes kept in the aquarium and maintain their aesthetic value and health.

When we started manufacturing in 1964, then under the company name HONG TAI TRADING, we operated in a HDB 3 room walk-up flat - at Blk 30, Tasek Utara. The bottles were manually filled, capped and labelled.
Filling the bottles were tedious, and each bottle is filled via a small tube. The caps have a small white "plug" to prevent leaking and facilitate squeezing. We had to either fit the "plug" in first and then capped it or place the "plug" in the cap first and then cap the bottle together. Needless to say, strength in the arm and gripping power in the fingers were vital for the cap and "plug" to be put in place securely.
After the bottles are capped, each bottle is manually labelled. The labels were 4 colour prints and require glue or starch to keep them in place!
As time progressed, shrinkable sleeves were used to prevent tempering. 
This required an additional step. The shrinkable sleeves were placed over the red caps and a hair dryer was used to complete the process. Ovens were not commonly available and was beyond our means anyway. 
The colour of the sleeves correspond to the colour of the medication in the bottles. (We did not use red sleeves because we could not find a suitable colour to print over the red). Even to this present day, we have not deviate from this concept. 
As our sales improved, so did our packaging. 
Self-sealing caps were used when we made the first major change in the design. 
By now, we have are already using a semi-automated filling machine. 
Capping and labelling were still manually done. 
The labels were still generally of the same design with the four guppies and slight changes in the printed fonts. (1980s)
Later, responding to customers' complains in not being able to see or check if the seal is broken, we modified the cap - Compare the caps in the top picture and the one on the left. Can you see the difference? 
Simply hold the seal ring, if it comes-off, the seal is broken! 
By now we have invested in a filling machine, two label dispensers, and a fully-automated (Wet Glue) labelling machine (1 bottle per second). 
Finally, the decision to make a complete re-vamp of our design was motted when we realised just how outdated we have become. Imitations and "copycats" (look-alikes) bottles from Malaysia were looking more & more like our original. After a fire destroyed our shop house at Lake View Shopping Centre, we made a drastic and completely new design concept to our overall look -

Now, the cap is snapped-in, Labels are self-adhesive 7-colour prints, bottles are still white PE bottles but with a translucent strip (we prefer calling it "viewing strip") for ease of use. 
What was done manually, is now undertaken by an automated filling, capping, and labelling machine with a capacity of about 6000 bottles per day!

Throughout the years, changes have been made to our bottles, its design, manufacturing & production abilities. But One Thing that have Never changed -- The Best and highest standard of quality possible and the best value for money !
